Mike McGear, whose real name is Michael McCartney, is an English musician and photographer. He was born on January 7, 1944, in Liverpool, England. He is the younger brother of renowned musician Sir Paul McCartney, a member of the iconic band The Beatles.
McGear started his musical career in the 1960s as a member of the group The Scaffold, which also included poet Roger McGough and entertainer John Gorman. The Scaffold had several chart hits in the UK, including the number one single "Lily the Pink" in 1968.
Following the disbanding of The Scaffold in the early 1970s, McGear embarked on a solo career and released several albums under his stage name. His most notable solo album is "McGear," released in 1974. The album featured contributions from various musicians, including his brother Paul McCartney and members of the band Wings.
Apart from his music career, McGear has also pursued photography. He is known for his portraits and documentary photography and has had his work exhibited internationally. Some of his notable projects include photographing the punk rock scene in the late 1970s and collaborating with the charity organization War Child.
Despite having a successful career in music and photography, Mike McGear is often overshadowed by his brother's fame. Nevertheless, his contributions to the musical and artistic world are recognized and appreciated by his fans and peers.
